When I took over as the Web Admin for Garner Grows, there was quite a learning curve. My web design experience was pretty much obsolete after 20 years, but I had enough of a base that I could learn fairly easily. The biggest challenge was trying to accomplish things for free! Being a non-profit, we try to accomplish everything on a shoestring budget. I wasn’t able to do everything for free, but I did manage to keep things on a reasonable budget. I wanted to share my experiences with other non-profits in an effort to help them save time and money.
- Web Design Tools – Because you need to make sure your website is mobile friendly, I recommend WordPress to simplify things
- Web Hosting – Although I recommend WordPress, I do NOT recommend hosting your website on WordPress if you want your own domain.
- Accepting online Payments –
- Non-profit discounts/freebies
- Automating website tasks
